About Thomas Tweed
Thomas Tweed is a design studio rooted in texture, story, and thoughtful construction. I design and create tote bags, messenger bags, and accessories crafted from a mix of new, vintage, and upcycled materials—including reclaimed suit jackets and sports coats. I also curate select vintage accessories—lapel pins, brooches, pocket squares, and other finishing touches—chosen for character and charm. Alongside soft goods, Thomas Tweed offers home design and hands-on services—from concept and material selection to installation. Projects range from feature walls and wall treatments to shelving, lighting, and space-focused upgrades that bring both function and personality into the home. Whether it’s something you carry or a space you live in, the goal is the same: to create work that feels intentional, expressive, and built to last.
What’s With the Fox?
Thomas the fox is inspired by an era of formality and polish—when tweed jackets and tailored clothing marked the moment. The silhouette nods to that tradition, but this fox isn’t frozen in it: mid-stride, eyes lifted, always moving forward. Alert and intentional, Thomas balances restraint with confidence—knowing when to move quietly and when to be seen. Like the pieces we create, the fox carries history without being weighed down by it—a reminder that good design isn’t about standing still, but about stepping forward with purpose.
The Process
Every piece starts the same way—hands-on, detail-focused, and built with care. The same approach used in bag making carries through to home projects: thoughtful materials, considered design, and attention to how something lives in the real world.
How Did It Begin?
Thomas Tweed began with a search.
After graduating design school, founder Andrew Antons set out to find an everyday bag that felt tailored, textural, and built to last. When the right one couldn’t be found, he began crafting his own.
The earliest designs were made from vintage sports coats in classic materials like tweed, herringbone, and houndstooth—fabrics with stories already woven in. What began as an experiment in upcycling grew into a broader philosophy: blend classic character with modern function.
That same thinking naturally expanded beyond what you carry into how you live—applying a designer’s eye and a maker’s mindset to interiors and home projects.
The materials may evolve, but the intention remains the same—thoughtful construction, enduring texture, and work designed to carry both function and personality.
